Several years ago, the arenas were freshly created in the EA NHL series and were quite accurate. However, many arenas have had some upgrades since then, many of which have not been updated in the video game. Here we take a look at some of the most outdated arenas in NHL 22.
Honda Center
The seats changed a few years ago to black, but they remain red in the game as of NHL22.
TD Garden
A couple seasons ago, the black and yellow seats were swapped out for solid black. Last season, a new scoreboard was introduced.
Little Caesars Arena
Shortly after installing the original all red seats, the Red Wings addressed their attendance woes by changing all of the seats to black.
SAP Center
The seats should have alternating colors every several rows as they always have, but for some reason, NHL 22 went solid gray. They will also be getting a new scoreboard this fall, so that is something that can hopefully be patched in later.
Enterprise Center
The Blues swapped out all color in the lower bowl for all neutral colors. Black seats, gray walls, and a gray canopy up by the rafters. If you see blue in the bowl aside from the hockey boards, it it was all painted over with neutral colors. The scoreboard could use some work too. Most of the newer scoreboards EA has added are pretty accurate but the Blues board looks kind of off. It should be a little taller and the rinks should be a little more curved on the edges to reduce the 'boxy-ness' look. The whole board could be a touch larger and lower to the ice as well. Not a huge thing, but it would certainly make this board look much more like the real thing.
Capital One Arena
The Caps home ice got a huge makeover a few years ago including a brand new scoreboard which has yet to be in the EA NHL series. Also new are the black seats and the one-of-a-kind ribbon boards near the rafters. They also added two sided LED screens to each of the four corners of the rink, near the rafters.
