Medicine Hat Arena was a multi-purpose indoor venue in Medicine Hat, Alberta, built in 1970 and located downtown at Ash Avenue SE. Nicknamed "The Smartie Box" for its once‑colorful wooden benches, it seated roughly 4,000 fans and served as the iconic home of the Medicine Hat Tigers WHL hockey team for 45 seasons. The facility was known for its roaring, intimate atmosphere and a long sell‑out streak that made it one of junior hockey’s loudest venues. After the Tigers moved to a new 7,100‑seat arena in 2015, the old Medicine Hat Arena was officially closed in July 2017 and has since been slated for demolition and redevelopment.
