It opened in 1988 and served as the home for several sports teams, including the Detroit Pistons (NBA), Detroit Shock (WNBA), Detroit Vipers (IHL), and others. Known for its modern design and luxury suites, it was considered a groundbreaking venue for its time. The arena closed in 2017 and was demolished in 2020.
